Jim Starr is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh Pa, with a BFA in illustration. He started out as a staff studio illustrator and then started freelancing for clients needing Advertising, Corporate, and Editorial Illustration. He enjoyed success for over 20 years. His most recognizable graphic image is the little mill on the Pepperidge Farms Logo (see below). Though he has not done much in book illustration, he is looking forward to seeing what he can offer. He will surely enjoy where the books he will illustrate will take him and is very excited to get to know and love the characters in the pages. He lives near the Mason-Dixon Line just north of Baltimore, MD. For breaks, he enjoys a walk or run with his two dogs, and some competitive table tennis. Ask him how the Orioles are doing, and he will surely give you an earful. Below are some of his recent books, Jimmy Carter: A Little Golden Book Biography by Michael Joosten (Golden Books), I Can Pray Anywhere by Donna-Marie Cooper O'Boyle (OSV Kid), George W. Bush: A Little Golden Book Biography by Joanna Keith (Golden Books), Secret Santa Claus Club: A Tool to Help Parents Unwrap the Secret of Santa by Jeff Janke (Three Feral Cats), The Great Gold Rush Adventure by Kyle Griffith (Bird Upstairs Books), Big Sam: A Rosh Hashanah Tall Tale by Eric A. Kimmel (Apples & Honey Press), 2017 White House Holiday Tour Book, Illustration used in Pepperidge Farm Logo.
